The Governor of Ekiti State, Biodun Oyebanji, has announced that the state will begin hiring doctors and nurses soon. These healthcare workers will work in the state’s health centers.
Governor Oyebanji thanked the members of the National Assembly from Ekiti State. These leaders have joined together to provide money to pay the salaries of the medical workers. This will help improve healthcare services in the state.
He spoke in Ado Ekiti on Friday while checking on different projects in the state. The Senate Leader, Opeyemi Bamidele, was with him. Governor Oyebanji said he was happy about the lawmakers’ helpful actions.
He said, “We are now advertising for doctors to work in Ekiti State’s health centers. The money for this is coming entirely from the members of the National Assembly.”
The Governor explained that the state has been building and equipping 11 new health centers. He realized that these centers would not be helpful without doctors and nurses.
“The Ministry of Health told us how many doctors and nurses we need. We also know how much money we need to pay them, and the state cannot afford it right now,” he said.
“So, I asked the National Assembly members if they could pool their money together for this. They agreed, and the money is coming in,” he added.
Governor Oyebanji said that Ekiti State is fortunate to have such supportive leaders in the national government, especially with Senator Bamidele’s leadership.
“The important thing I’ve learned from this is that when leaders have the same goals, good things happen,” Governor Oyebanji stated.
The projects they visited included a special center for children with disabilities, the Agric Olope Main Market, an international art and culture center, the Okeyinmi flyover, the new town in Ado Ekiti, a 17.85-kilometer ring road, and the Government Science College in Iyin Ekiti.
The Governor said he was pleased with how quickly and well the work was being done.
“I have more than four teams that regularly check on these projects and give me updates. I am here to see for myself what they are telling me and also to show the Senate leader what we are doing. I really appreciate his visit,” he said.
“In total, we have 11 road projects happening across the state,” he added.
Governor Oyebanji asked the people living in Ekiti State to take care of the projects in their areas. This will help make sure they last a long time.
Senator Bamidele said he was happy about the good relationship between the Governor and the Ekiti State members of the National Assembly.
He promised the Governor that the federal lawmakers would continue to support him in his efforts to help the people through his programs and policies.
The Senate leader also promised to bring more projects to the state, including building a bigger center for children with disabilities.
