NDE Empowers 5,532 Trainees with Funds and Tools to Start Businesses

The Federal Government of Nigeria has supported 5,532 trainees who finished their training under the National Directorate of Employment (NDE). These trainees received financial help, tools, and equipment to start their own businesses through the Renewed Hope Employment Initiative. This initiative aims to help unemployed people become independent and grow Nigeria’s economy.

Details of the Initiative

The Director-General of NDE, Silas Agara, shared that in the past three months, the government has trained 33,692 Nigerians. These include young people, women, and people living with disabilities. They learned useful skills like vocational training, entrepreneurship, and business management to help them become self-employed.

Core Pillars of the Renewed Hope Employment Initiative

The Renewed Hope Employment Initiative has three main goals:

  • Skills Development: Giving training and mentorship to help unskilled and unemployed people.
  • Resettlement Packages: Providing loans, financial support, and starter packs with essential tools and equipment.
  • Job Creation: Working together with local businesses, entrepreneurs, and other groups to create job opportunities and boost the economy.

Agara explained this during the ceremony in Abuja, where the trainees received their tools and funds.

Importance of This Support

Silas Agara stated that this event was an important step towards reducing unemployment and helping economic growth. He emphasized that this initiative shows the government’s promise to create a better future, giving everyone the chance for meaningful work and economic improvement.

The NDE assured that it would continue helping the beneficiaries as they build their new businesses. Agara encouraged the trainees to fully use this support to help their businesses and Nigeria’s economy grow.

Government’s Commitment

Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, handed over the loans, tools, and equipment to the trainees. She mentioned this program clearly shows the government’s dedication to improving Nigerians’ lives, especially young people and vulnerable groups.

Onyejeocha highlighted that these trainees are lucky, as many others who were trained have not received similar help yet due to limited funds.

She explained, “This employment creation program was carefully designed to provide thousands of Nigerians with practical skills in different trades and vocations.”

Training and Support Go Hand-in-Hand

The Minister pointed out that training alone isn’t enough. Beneficiaries must have tools and financial support to turn their new skills into real businesses. That’s why the support provided today is a crucial step toward their economic independence.

She urged the trainees to fully use the tools, equipment, and financial aid provided. She said they should create sustainable businesses, provide jobs for others, and help Nigeria’s economy.

Call for Additional Support

Minister Onyejeocha also asked philanthropists, businesses, and international partners to support the NDE in helping more trainees get fully settled.

She concluded by saying, “The government will keep supporting programs that create jobs, reduce poverty, and build a prosperous future for all Nigerians.”

This initiative is expected to significantly impact the lives of the trainees and contribute positively to Nigeria’s economic growth.
