iHatch Upskilling Programme: Empowering Startups and Entrepreneurs
Speaking at the iHatch Upskilling Programme, Kashifu Inuwa, Director General of NITDA, emphasized the importance of equipping hub managers with the necessary skills and resources to support startups, facilitate funding access, and scale commercialization strategies.
The expansion of iHatch is set to:

By investing in startup incubation, NITDA and JICA aim to strengthen Nigeria’s digital innovation ecosystem and drive sustainable economic development.
Transforming CBT Centers into Innovation Hubs
To accelerate Nigeria’s digital transformation, NITDA is exploring plans to convert Computer-Based Test (CBT) centers into innovation hubs. These hubs will serve as key infrastructure for:
- Tech startups to collaborate and grow.
- Developing homegrown digital solutions.
- Providing access to mentorship, training, and investment opportunities.
This initiative is expected to bridge the digital divide, particularly in underserved areas, and create a more inclusive tech-driven economy.
Strengthening the Nigeria Startup Act
Inuwa also highlighted the critical role of hub managers in championing the Nigeria Startup Act, a legislative framework designed to:
- Support startup growth through regulatory incentives.
- Attract local and international investors.
- Expand Nigeria’s footprint in the global digital economy.
By advocating for favorable policies and increased global exposure, hub managers will play a vital role in positioning Nigeria as a leading hub for technology and entrepreneurship in Africa.
A Commitment to Sustainable Development
With this initiative, NITDA and JICA reaffirm their dedication to fostering a thriving, innovation-driven economy. By equipping entrepreneurs, transforming digital infrastructure, and championing pro-startup policies, the partnership is set to accelerate Nigeria’s transition into a globally competitive digital economy.
